HISTORY: (Please describe a few key events in addition to any wiki links)

• Carmen was found as a baby in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She was thought to be orphaned and though the person who found her wasn't known for certain, she always assumed it was Coach Brunt, the instructor who seemed to have the softest spot for her and allowed her to get into the most trouble. Coach was also Carmen's favorite VILE instructor. She was raised on the Isle of VILE, a training academy for thieves, and was given the name Black Sheep, a code name as thieves usually used. Between her many nannies from all over the world and the finest thieves imaginable, she learned language and culture and frankly, how to be sneaky.

• Carmen began her official training at the Academy much younger than most would. It took effort to convince the instructors that she was ready and, due to having been raised her entire life surrounded by VILE operatives, she knew how to do many of the things they would learn already. She even had her code name already, something most didn't get until graduation. When it came time for her final exam, though, she failed against Shadow-san, the strict Japanese stealth instructor. She took this very personally and snuck off on a mission with the graduates from the class before her. It was only one this mission that she learned what VILE really was. Stealing wasn't just for fun and these people were willing to kill to do it. That's when she realized she couldn't do this, she wouldn't be a part of it, and she wanted off the island.

• Mobile devices and other various technology weren't allowed at VILE, but Carmen found one and had been using it to help with her schoolwork. She was hacked by a White Hat Hacker who was known to her only as Player. With his skills behind the computer and her abilities in stealth and just flat out being creative, Carmen not only got on a boat off of the island, but she took a file of VILE's intel with upcoming heists in the process. The disguise she stole included a red hat and a matching coat. The fedora was made at Carmen Industries in San Diego, California, and Black Sheep died and Carmen Sandiego was born.

• After taking a few weeks to herself to travel and finally see the parts of the world she'd been reading and learning about for so long, Carmen turned back to her roots in thievery...but for the good guys. She's a bit of an anti-hero, stopping VILE from stealing, returning their stolen goods to their rightful homes, and funneling VILE funds into her own personal charity, the Black Sheep Foundation. Along the way she met twins, Zack and Ivy, based out of Boston. They proved themselves incredibly useful and she ended up adding them to her team, along with Player who was still a vital asset to her as well as a very good friend.

• Carmen leads a complicated life. Always undercover, always on the run. It isn't just VILE who's after her. ACME, a secret organization outside of the standard police, believe she's on the side of VILE. VILE eventually believes she's teamed up with ACME. And when things got particularly difficult, Carmen discovered she actually had an ally inside VILE. Shadow-san, the teacher she thought hated her, had actually been the one to find her as a baby and bring her to the Academy. He betrayed his fellow faculty at VILE and went on the run with Carmen and her team. They butt heads often, but his insight has proven incredibly useful. He was also the one to tell her the most information she has about her heritage. She is the daughter of former VILE faculty Dexter Wolfe and an unknown woman. Shadow-san was sent to kill Dexter, as they could tell he was getting ready to leave them and start a new life. But Shadow-san found Carmen instead and he couldn't make himself do it. Instead, the Chief of Acme was the one to take Carmen's father's life. Now she is on a desperate search to find her mother, who slipped away before Dexter could be killed and may still be alive.

Carmen is clever and bright. Between her natural personality and her Academy thief training, she has an incredible eye for detail and can spot tiny things from a distance. This isn't just physical but also spatial, emotional, you name it. She's not exactly Sherlock Holmes here, but she is very intuitive. Almost in spite of her literally evil upbringing, Carmen has an incredibly compassionate streak. It was knowing that she could never take a life that led her to betraying VILE in the first place and her personal charity (funded by VILE's money) feeds the hungry and provides for children's homes and homeless charities. She has a wicked sense of humor, dropping jokes when you least expect them and with the coolest and most calm tone. She's very sassy and stylish and also incredibly elegant. New York will be a good fit for her, but don't be surprised if she takes off jet setting to take down bad guys...as soon as she figures out how to do so without her usual backup. N/A
